For coffee lovers, check out the list of places to get your caffeine fix in this article on Limerick.ie.

If your pet is part of your travel group coming to West Limerick, the region is extremely dog friendly so read here about the places that welcome you and your pooch.

Limerick’s largest town, Newcastle West, is home to a number of hidden culinary gems. Start in The Square and take in the sights of the original site of Nash’s Mineral Water company, which was set up in Newcastle West in 1875 by Richard and Johanna Nash. Say hello to Ella The Buttermaker cast by Cliodhna Cussen to commemorate the rich food history of Newcastle West. Then grab a coffee or a bottle of Attylin Estate Apple Juice from destination store Sonas Health Foods, a bun from family run Marguerite’s Bakery and on a Saturday be sure to get a homemade smokey bacon quiche from Frenchman Jeff in the market. Head over to the grounds of 12th centure Desmond Castle & Banqueting Hall and enjoy your local fare at one of the picnic tables. On your way over you will pass the statue of one of Ireland’s renowned poets, the West Limerick born Michael Hartnett. His poem “The Ballad of Salad Sundays” is well worth a read!

Couple’s Retreat

I am a huge fan of the peace and tranquility of the multi award winning Mustard Seed It’s on site kitchen garden ensures that Chef Angel Pirev and his team have access to the freshest ingredients for the mouthwatering menus.

Multigenerational Family Visit

Fanningstown House offers perfect accommodation for large families as it is a large detached gated house with 5 bedrooms and 2 ensuites. It has an incredible “Dine at Home” package where a local award winning chef visits the property and cooks up a sumptous supper using locally sourced in season ingredients with the option of a wine pairing thank to Forrestal Wines.
